” Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for,made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body..” (1st Corinthians 6:19-20)
Addicted to something? Do you feel without it you would not be able to move on? Think of giving up everyone and everything for your addictions? Have family and friends tried to help you? Have you tried to stop your addiction, but seem to revisit it again and again?
A simple statement:
” Before you got addicted to something, you lived without it”
This goes to explain the next statements, ‘Who where you before the addiction? Do you feel more fulfilled with your addiction?’
Negative Addictions can destroy a person’s life and make him/her ineffective and above all, loose focus. The substance or thing one seems to be addicted to throws a face of ‘life or death’ to the addict, giving the addict the impression that without it life would be horrible. Addictions have the following characteristic;
-spontaneity
-Disorientation
-Over reaction
The results are;
– Regrets
– depression
– self-fulfilment
– Pain
And atimes extremities. Addictions need satisfaction here and now; they drive a man’s life and hold on to him like a parasite. Most times, addictions lead to death- early and painful suffering.
It is important to note that;
Your life does not depend on your addictions
Your addictions depend on you.
So, when you cut the life source of your addiction by starving it, it begins to die off, but you will need some therapy- Bible Therapy! The Bible is a unique tool for renewing your mindset; it is a living Book. God gives the ultimate Healing; He sees you whole, and hates it when you abuse the body He gave you.
If you are Born-again, or thinking of giving your life to Christ, you need to understand the enemy and his strategy to destroy people. The devil is no respecter of people or their dreams; he seeks to destroy you! He seeks to make you an addict and then subtly show you the pathway to destruction. ” Submit yourselves to God, Resist the devil….. and he will flee!” (James 4:7) You can only succeed in God, you can only succeed with the Word of God.
Do you feel there is no redemption for you? Do you feel you have gone to far to find a pathway back? As long as there is breath in you, there is Hope! There is always and will always be a way to redemption. God is calling you today.
